Year 6 Curriculum Information Term 1

Please welcome St Matthew’s NEW Head Pupils: ⭐️

Prayer Afternoon 🙏

Pupils spent Friday afternoon visiting each classroom to learn about the 5 types of prayer - they shared their blessings with God, created mood boards of thanks-giving and considered prayers of intercession for those in their life who may need His help.

NEWSPAPER DELIVERY INCOMING!!

Year 6 have started the year by discussing our school parable of 'The Good Samaritan' - this is a reading from the Bible we are fairly familiar with now and so we considered its meaning a little more deeply: how it impacts upon our own behaviour going forth, which other Bible stories it shares themes with and how the morals could link to the Catholic Social Teaching Principles.

The children identified the different genres of books included in the Old and New Testament and located scripture by chapter, verse and line. 

RealPE Dance - Argentine Tango

Skills: Balance and co-ordination, counting the beat of the music to mirror movement, dancing in unison and formations.

John 13:1-17 Jesus washes His Disciples’ feet

In this passage, Jesus washes His disciples’ feet, teaching them that true leadership is rooted in serving others. It also reinforces the lesson that no act of service is too small when done with love.

Shakespeare Week: King Lear 

As part of our exploration of this classic Shakespearean play, Mrs Harris brought the story to life and we learned about each of the main characters and their roles in the story.

The children were invited to take on the roles themselves, acting out the key scenes which led to such a tragic end!
