Term 1

Geography

Children will learn about the United Kingdom, including the countries that make up the UK and where they are located. They will explore a globe to begin developing an understanding of the world around them. Children will also learn to identify and understand the difference between land and sea.

Science 

Children will learn to recognise some of the signs of autumn in the world around them. They will explore changes in the weather, plants and trees, including leaves changing colour and falling. Children will begin to observe and talk about the seasonal changes they can see.

Art 

Children will learn about the artist J. M. W. Turner and explore some of his paintings. They will look closely at the colours, light and brushstrokes he used to create different effects. Children will have opportunities to experiment with colour and create their own artwork inspired by Turner.
